Why do I need to renew my Green Card?

You will need to renew your Green Card if:

You are a permanent resident whose 10-year Green Card has expired or will expire within the next 6 months.

When do I need to renew my Green Card?

  • Your Green Card is expiring within six months
  • When you become 14 years old
  • You are going to work in the U.S., but currently live in a different country
  • You have been given a permanent resident status after a period of employment in the U.S.

How long does it take?

The Green Card Renewal application process usually takes 6 to 10 months. The exact time depends on each individual situation.

Steps:

1. You file Form USCIS I-90; the USCIS confirms the receipt within 1-3 weeks.

2. The Biometrics appointment is scheduled within 4-6 weeks.

3. Your Green Card is issued 6-10 months after filing.
