When do I need a Reentry Permit?
Applicants who have an adjustment of status application pending must be approved for advance parole before they leave the United States. Otherwise, their pending application for adjustment will be canceled.
You need to apply for permission to re-enter the U.S. after you travel abroad if:

You have filed an application for adjustment of status to the USCIS and it is pending;
- You have a refugee or asylee status and have to travel to apply for a U.S. immigrant visa in Canada;
- You have an emergent personal or bona fide reason to travel temporarily abroad.
How much does it cost?
U.S. government fees are mandatory and nonrefundable:
- USCIS Reentry Form I-131 filing fee: $575
- USCIS Advance Parole Form I-131 filing fee: $575
- USCIS Refugee Form I-131 filing fee: $105 - $135
- USCIS Biometric Services: $85
The total cost can vary depending on each individual case. The figures above do not include attorney fees, professional assistance and translation fees, travel costs, securing needed documents, postage, etc. Government fees may change by the decision of the government.

What documents are required?

A copy of an official photo ID document

A copy of any document showing your current status in the United States
- Evidence that you are a lawful permanent resident:
- A copy of your Permanent Resident Card (front and back);
- A copy of the biographic pages of your passport
- A copy of the visa page proving your admission as a lawful permanent resident;
- A copy of the Form I-797, Notice of Action, approval notice of your application to replace your Green Card
- Temporary evidence of your lawful permanent resident status
- Certified English translations of non-English documents (if applicable)
- Two passport-style photos taken not earlier than 30 days before the application
- Evidence that your trip is for educational, employment, or humanitarian purposes
- Explanation or other circumstances that make you eligible to apply for an advance parole document
- A statement explaining why you cannot obtain a U.S. visa (if applicable)
- A statement explaining why you cannot obtain a waiver of inadmissibility (if applicable)
- A copy of any decision on immigrant/non-immigrant applications or petitions
- Proof of refugee or asylee status
